Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the 8th Nawab of Pataudi captained the India cricket team. His son, Mansur Ali Khan, followed in his father’s footsteps to Oxford and also played cricket at the highest level for both university and country. He is widely acclaimed as, “India’s greatest Captain’.


Mansur Ali Khan, nicknamed “Tiger,” was born in 1941 in Bhopal and inherited the title as the 9th Nawab of the princely state of Pataudi at the age of 11. He had a privileged childhood, being brought up in the palatial surroundings of Pataudi ‘palace’ and an English public school education. In 1960 he followed his father’s footsteps and enrolled at Balliol College. Both father and son played cricket for University and the national Indian team. Mansur Ali Khan is widely acclaimed as, “India’s greatest Captain’.
