RAF Compton Basset

South East England Trail.

RAF Compton Basset first opened as an air base during the First World War and continued its operations in the interwar years. In the Second World War, it became a major radio and radar training school. Noor was posted at Compton Basset on 11 May 1942 for a seven-week Advanced Signals and Wireless course. During this time, although busy with her training, Noor sent her Mother, Ameena Begum, a handmade card with a poem on her birthday.
