The Air Forces Memorial or Runnymede Memorial commemorates 20,456 airmen and women lost during operations in the Second World War. Those remembered have no known grave and many were lost without trace. The memorial was built and maintained by The Commonwealth War Graves Commission. It was designed by Sir Edward Maufe, the Commission’s principal architect.
Noor Inayat Khan is commemorated on Panel 243, for her service as Section Officer in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF).
The Memorial was unveiled by Her Majesty The Queen, on 17 October 1953.
