Orchard Court, Portman Square
From the exterior, Orchard Court in Portman Square is indistinguishable from the many other mansion blocks in central London. In the Second World War, however, it was used by the SOE.
It was here that Vera Atkins interviewed potential recruits, organised training programmes, created cover stories for the spies, and briefed the agents before they set off for Occupied France.
Noor was interviewed and then given her cover story at Orchard Court. During her final briefing, she was handed her false passport and papers, and a set of 4 pills including the lethal cyanide in case she was captured.
